Wilma Melton
Apr 20, 2018Hoerr Melton, 90, of Brookline Station, Mo., formerly of Pekin, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018, at her home.Born Aug. 5, 1927, in Pekin to Melvin Edward and Mildred Lucille (Bevard) Hoerr, she married William Ellis Melton on Dec. 26, 1970, in Pekin. He died Oct. 9, 2008.She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Karen Carter; one son, Kevin Ales; one great-grandson; one brother, Melvin Hoerr; and two sisters, Lila Workman and Violet Piper.Surviving are two daughters, Catherine (Richard) Enlow of Springfield, Mo. and Christine (Robert) Bruninga of Pekin; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.A homemaker, Wilma had worked as a waitress at the B & F in downtown Pekin.Wilma enjoyed singing and playing the piano and guitar. She was a published poet and songwriter.Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
